This charity is prescribed in order to cleanse the individual's wealth, heart, and by extension the society in general, of the baser characteristics of miserliness, selfishness, greed, and materialism and replace them with higher qualities of generosity, love and care, and mutual help. 〔()〕 Zakah is obligatory in, sheep, cows and camels. ==Conditions for Zakah becoming Obligatory== With a number of conditions, Zakah becomes obligatory: * The property has reached the amount of a Nisaab . * The owner of that property is mature and sane. * He is able to dispense of that property. * In the case of cows, sheep, camels, it is necessary to possess it for twelve months, however, the obligatory precaution is that from the beginning of the twelfth month, the related Zakah is taken out.
